Thank you volunteers!
This is our third year participating in the Raritan Headwaters Association‘s Annual Stream Cleanup. This event is in its 26th year and is a collaborative effort across communities throughout Hunterdon, Somerset and Morris Counties to clean up the rivers and streams that make up the Raritan headwaters. Dickerson Mine Preserve is just one of 41 sites for this cleanup that marks the northernmost point of the 470-square-mile Raritan headwaters region.
Thirteen volunteers came out and worked a combined 39 hours, removing 20 bags of garbage, 20 bags of recyclables and roughly 300 pounds of metals, tires and other large debris. Representation from Mine Hill Township Council and Open Space Committees, Mine Hill Township residents, Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association, a local Meetup.com hiking group and Raritan Headwaters Association members were all in attendance.
